Adarsh Ready-made Garments Development Cluster
Clothing is fiber and textile material worn on the body. The wearing of clothing is mostly restricted to human beings and is a feature of nearly all human societies. The amount and type of clothing worn is dependent on physical stature, gender, as well as social and geographic considerations.
A textile or cloth is a flexible woven material consisting of a network of natural or artificial fibres often referred to as thread or yarn. Yarn is produced by spinning raw fibers of wool, flax, cotton, or other material to produce long strands. Textiles are formed by weaving, knitting, crocheting, knotting, or pressing fibers together (felt).
The words fabric and cloth are used in textile assembly trades (such as tailoring and dressmaking) as synonyms for textile. However, there are subtle differences in these terms in specialized usage. Textile refers to any material made of interlacing fibers. Fabric refers to any material made through weaving, knitting, spreading, crocheting, or bonding that may be used in production of further goods (garments, etc.). Cloth may be used synonymously with fabric but often refers to a finished piece of fabric used for a specific purpose (e.g., table cloth).
Clothes can be made out of fiber plants such as cotton, plastics such as polyester, or animal skin and hair such as wool. Humans began wearing clothes roughly 8,300 to 170,000 years ago.
The textile industry or apparel industry is primarily concerned with the production of yarn, and cloth and the subsequent design or manufacture of clothing and their distribution. The raw material may be natural or synthetic using products of the chemical industry.
Textiles can be made from many materials. These materials come from four main sources: animal (wool, silk), plant (cotton, flax, jute), mineral (asbestos, glass fiber), and synthetic (nylon, polyester, acrylic). In the past, all textiles were made from natural fibers, including plant, animal, and mineral sources. In the 20th century, these were supplemented by artificial fibers made from petroleum.
Textiles are made in various strengths and degrees of durability, from the finest gossamer to the sturdiest canvas. The relative thickness of fibers in cloth is measured in deniers. Micro-fiber refers to fibers made of strands thinner than one denier.
- There are about more than 67 micro units in the cluster and 80%Ladies, very hard working.
- As Ramdurga is a one of the backward places of the state, the cluster members are adopting traditional method of manufacturing garment products without using proper machineries.
- Therefore, the output is very slow and small compared to huge market demand.
- Raw material is procured from Mumbai and Solapur.
- In order to solve the problems of the cluster a special purpose vehicle is established as “Adarsh Garments Cluster Development Association”.
- The state government in association with the MSME-DI Belgaum has motivated the industries to form the cluster.
Cluster Map
The current cluster plan is as per the following perception and the same will be developed further based on finalization of the Land and shall be depicted in the DPR.
